Firebuy launches new National Foam Framework
On 7 July Firebuy launched the new National Foam Framework at the 4th Fire-fighting Foam Conference at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton. This new multi-supplier framework is a radical departure from the previous OGC contract and now features five suppliers and over 90 products at competitive prices.Firebuy's new Fire-Fighting Foam framework agreement is not just available to all UK Fire and Rescue Services and public sector organisations, but also the Civil Aviation Authority and members of the Airport Operators Association, UK Petroleum Industries Association and the Tank Storage Association.

The Future of Firebuy
On 25 June 2009 a Written Ministerial Statement was issued announcing changes affecting Firebuy. Communities and Local Government has concluded that national procurement is very important and must continue and that it will continue to support it. In the Written Statement, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Shahid Malik, proposed that Firebuy's functions should, in future, be carried out within a larger organisation integrating national procurement with the management of the service contracts for the Fire and Resilience Programme (Firelink, FiReControl and New Dimension). Firebuy already performs this function in respect of New Dimension.

Firebuy to put in place a Pan Government ‘Special Vehicle Capability’ framework agreement
Firebuy's Special Vehicle Capability framework is intended to be able to meet the requirements for special type appliances that are not catered for in other frameworks provided by Firebuy or other agencies like Buying Solutions etc. The Pan Government Framework agreement will be available for use by all UK contracting authorities including, but not limited to, Government Departments and their agencies, Non-Departmental Public Bodies, UK Fire and Rescue Services, NHS bodies, Local Authorities, Police Authorities, Emergency Services, Defence and Educational Establishments who have a need to purchase a special vehicle.

Firebuy to upgrade its website
Over the next two months Firebuy is updating its website with the new site being launched at the beginning of October 2009. The new website will be designed to be more customer focussed, easier to navigate and provide more information for Firebuy's customers and key stakeholders.A user group with volunteers from FIRESA has already been set up and further user groups will be introduced to represent other interested parties to make sure that the end result is a website that meetseveryone's needs. Update on New Dimensions Asset Refresh
The procurement for the supply, repair and maintenance of specialist equipment and ancilliary products and services in support of National Resilience has reached the Pre Qualification Questionnaire stage which are currently being evaluated. following this succesful suppliers will be invited to tender. The framework agreement is due to be let in November 2009.

Update on the Flood and Water Rescue Equipment Framework
The invitation to tender for the Water Rescue Equipment Framework, in support of the Flood Rescue National Enhancement Project, is being issued on 31 July 2009. Firebuy had an excellent response to the initial invitation for expressions of interest and the pre-qualification questionnaires have already been evaluated. The framework will be available for customers to use in November 2009.
